AssignMint respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using AssignMint, including our website, app, and Chrome extension.

Information We Collect

When you create an AssignMint account, we collect information such as your name and email address. Your login credentials are processed through our authentication provider. AssignMint does not store or have access to your password in readable form. We use this information to create and secure your account, let you sign in, and provide AssignMint’s features.

AssignMint also stores information related to your courses and assignments, such as course names, assignment names, assignment due dates, assignment completion status, notes, priority settings, and other information you choose to enter into AssignMint.

Canvas Data

AssignMint’s Chrome extension includes optional functionality that can collect Canvas student data to help import and organize assignments. This feature is optional, and users can choose not to use it or opt out of it.

If you choose to use the Canvas import feature, AssignMint may collect Canvas-related information such as course names, course IDs, assignment names, assignment due dates, assignment descriptions, and other assignment-related information needed to provide the import and assignment tracking features.

We use Canvas data only to provide AssignMint’s user-facing features, such as importing assignments, organizing courses, syncing assignment information, and helping users manage their schoolwork.

Screen Time and App-Blocking Data

AssignMint uses Apple’s Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks to allow users to voluntarily select apps, app categories, and websites to restrict. AssignMint uses these selections only to apply the blocking rules configured by the user.

The user’s selected apps, app categories, and websites are stored locally on the user’s device and are not transmitted to or stored on AssignMint’s servers. AssignMint may store the type of blocking rule selected by the user, such as “Disabled” or “Daily,” in order to synchronize the user’s settings and provide the requested functionality.

AssignMint does not use Screen Time or app-selection information for advertising and does not sell this information. Users can change their selections within AssignMint or revoke Screen Time authorization through their device settings.

Notifications and Device Tokens

If you enable notifications, AssignMint may receive and store an Apple Push Notification service device token associated with your account. We use this token to deliver notifications and background updates related to assignment and blocking status. You can disable notifications through your device settings. Device tokens may be deleted or replaced when you sign out, delete your account, reinstall the app, or when Apple issues a new token.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to operate AssignMint, create and manage user accounts, authenticate users, import Canvas assignments if enabled, organize courses and assignments, sync information across devices, improve the product, fix bugs, provide support, and protect the security of AssignMint.

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate AssignMint, including providers of hosting, databases, authentication, app deployment, email, customer support, and push-notification delivery. These providers may process information only as needed to provide their services to AssignMint.

We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of AssignMint, our users, or others.

Browser Extension Data

AssignMint’s Chrome extension is designed to collect only the information needed to provide its stated features. We do not use Chrome extension data for unrelated advertising purposes, and we do not sell Chrome extension data.

Your Choices

You can choose not to use the Canvas import feature. If you opt out, AssignMint will not intentionally import new Canvas data for your account. Previously imported Canvas data may remain in your account unless you delete it or request deletion.

You can delete your AssignMint account from within the AssignMint iOS app by opening Settings, selecting Profile, and choosing Delete Account. Deleting your account permanently removes your account and the associated personal information from AssignMint’s active systems, except for information we are legally required or permitted to retain.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect user information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain account, course, assignment, and settings information while your AssignMint account remains active or for as long as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize the personal information associated with it, except where retention is required or permitted for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or enforcement of our agreements.

Some information may remain temporarily in backups, security records, or system logs until those records are overwritten or expire through our normal retention processes.

Children’s Privacy

AssignMint is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at assignminthelp@gmail.com, and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Third-Party Services

AssignMint may interact with third-party services, including Canvas, when you choose to use related features. Your use of Canvas or other third-party services is also governed by those services’ own privacy policies and terms.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and may provide additional notice through AssignMint, email, or other reasonable means.
